SCOTT WATERS
Growing up in the US Air Force, Scott lived all over the place and started drawing at the age of eleven. He attended Ringling College of Art & Design in Sarasota Florida, majoring in Commercial Art and Illustration.
After art school, he freelanced, worked in a recording studio and as a commercial artist. He also managed an advertising agency, where he learned computers, photography, copywriting, electronics, sound, and video production.
From 1983, Scott was a Field Marketing Manager and later a consultant in public relations and marketing for Apple Computer. He helped introduce the Macintosh and participated in a variety of projects on the mainland, in Hawaii and Australia.
Continuing to paint after moving to Hawaii, Scott worked there as a computer consultant and commercial artist.
The island's art and culture brightened his palette and influenced his technique as a modern impressionist.
The current century brought a sabbatical to Southwest Britain, painting in Ireland and relocating to St. Augustine, Florida.
Mr. Waters has recently produced a series of portraits of local musicians painted with an iPad that combine classic techniques with contemporary media while maintaining the qualities of traditional painting.
He is is a founding member of the Anonymous Society of Artists, a local group involved in events, shows, plein--air sessions and new media.
Scott’s work has been shown at Maui’s Hui No’eau Visual Arts Center, The Crossroads Art Center in Richmond Virginia, various venues in St. Augustine, and on his iPad to anyone interested.
